Mark Holbrook was a legend. A tall, rugged, imposing legend. He'd won a Pulitzer, interviewed kings and queens, presidents, and movie stars. Carly Barnett, on the other hand, was a former-beauty-queen-turned-advice-columnist. Not exactly on the same level. Still, Carly was determined to prove that she was more than a pretty face. Mark wasn't sure the beautiful and spirited Carly had what it took to be a reporter, but he was sure that he wanted her. And Mark never denied himself what he wanted. Only, Carly was far better at uncovering the truth than Mark had given her credit for. And sooner or later she'd uncover the most dangerous truth of all - that he couldn't live without her. ungekürzt. Language: English. Narrator: Susan Bennett. Forest Valuation under Carbon Pricing
Emissions trading schemes are increasingly beingadopted to combat climate change. New Zealand createdthe world s first all sectors all gases such schemein 2008, awarding tradable credits for carbonsequestration and imposing liabilities for emissions(i.e. harvest or deforestation) from forestry. Addingcarbon pricing as a decision variable complicatesforest and forest land valuation, highlighting thereal options available to foresters (i.e. to deferharvest or to change land use). Standard forestvaluation methodologies do not properly capture thevalue impacts of carbon pricing on forestry. Thisbook was commissioned by the New Zealand Ministry ofAgriculture and Forestry, and develops a new approach bootstrapping real options analysis (BROA) toaddress this shortcoming. The BROA approach is richenough to capture the complexities of forestvaluation under carbon pricing, while remainingtractable enough to find practical application. Itshould be useful to academics interested in valuingcomplex real options, as well as to academics, practitioners and policymakers interested inevaluating the impact of carbon pricing on forestryand forest land use.- Shop: buecher

Wittgenstein and the Life We Live with Language (eBook, ePUB)
This work is guided by the idea that Wittgenstein's thought opens the door to a more profound break with the philosophical tradition than has been generally recognized. It brings this insight to bear on some basic problems of philosophy. Wittgenstein's work has been assimilated to the analytic tradition in such a way that its radical character has been made nearly invisible. In fact, Wittgenstein formulates a basic critique of a predominant conception in contemporary analytic philosophy, according to which language can be seen as a formal structure describable in general terms. This conception neglects the profound context-dependence of the way things said are to be understood, thus imposing a schematic view of the connections between words and life. By distancing us from the life we live with language, it makes the problems of philosophy come to appear intractable. In this work, the attempt is made to show how philosophical confusions are to be overcome through attending to the actual use of words in conversation.- Shop: buecher
