What if the real power of the Web lay not in the technology behind it, but in the profound changes it brings to the way people interact with business? And what if these changes were altering the nature of your company as profoundly as they have changed your markets? With language as sharp and compelling as the observations, www.cluetrain.com burst unexpectedly onto the scene with 95 Theses to ignite a vibrant and viral conversation making hash of corporate assumptions about the nature of online business. Provocative, outrageous, and wickedly smart, the manifesto has challenged executives from Global 1000 companies to sign-on or risk missing a genuine revolution. Expanding on ideas and insights first nailed up on the Web, The Cluetrain Manifesto both signals and explores a sea change already nearing flood tide in today's wired world. Through the Internet, people are discovering new ways to share relevant knowledge with blinding speed. As a result, markets are getting smarter faster than most companies. Whether management understands it or not, networked employees are an integral part of these borderless conversations. Today, customers and employees are communicating with each other in language that is natural, open, direct, and often funny. Companies that aren't listening to these exchanges are missing a dire warning. Companies that aren't engaging in them are missing an unprecedented opportunity. A rich tapestry of anecdotes, object lessons, parodies, insights, and predictions, The Cluetrain Manifesto illustrates how the Internet has radically reframed the "immutable laws" of business - and what business needs to know to weather the seismic aftershocks. ungekürzt. In God Wants You Happy, Father Jonathan Morris replaces the unsatisfying, fleeting solutions we receive from the New Age self-help industry with the simplicity and depth of authentic Christian spirituality. In his work traveling the world for FOX News and in his parish work in New York City, Father Jonathan could not understand why people were choosing the vague and sometimes harmful advice of the self-help gurus and ignoring the tested and true help the Christian faith offers. He discovered that part of the problem was packaging: people thought the church dealt only in sin and guilt and not help and healing. But what if we reframed God's good news in the same terms as the self-help world?Morris argues that self-help can only take you so far; what we need is God-help. God Wants You Happy offers a life-long spiritual program that teaches you how to open yourself up to God's loving presence in order to become everything he created you to be: joyful, flourishing men and women. In other words, God wants you to be happy.Illuminated with biblical passages and filled with case studies and exercises, God Wants You Happy helps you to: Open your mind and heart to the all-loving God who wants to help and empower you Work through the Faith-Hope-Love Cure to rid yourself of self-destructive and self-limiting habits while forming new habits for receiving grace, forgiveness, acceptance, and love Tap into the natural mechanisms of self-improvement God has already put within you Discover your divine missionA lifetime of happiness is at your fingertips and the Creator of the universe wants to help you achieve it. ungekürzt. What is a woman author? The early 20th century saw the emergence of a new concept, Frauendichtung (women's writing), a mode of discourse that fundamentally reframed the question of female-and thus also, by contrast, of male-authorship. The paradigm of women's writing as it emerged on the threshold to modernity, when it was associated with a kind of timeless knowledge, has been at best cursorily treated in extant scholarship. It is at the focus of the present study, which traces its astonishing longevity-if only at the level of implicit knowledge-up until the present day. The book concludes with an analysis of current debates on gender, authorship, and canonicity. Methodologically, it draws on techniques of discourse and myth analysis, paratext theory, and praxeology.

Why Would I Be Married Here? examines marriage migration undertaken by rural bachelors in North India, unable to marry locally, who travel across the breadth of India seeking brides who do not share the same caste, ethnicity, language, or customs as themselves. Combining rich ethnographic evidence with Dalit feminist and political economy frameworks, Reena Kukreja connects the macro-political violent process of neoliberalism to the micro-personal level of marriage and intimate gender relations to analyze the lived reality of this set of migrant brides in cross-region marriages among dominant-peasant caste Hindus and Meo Muslims in rural North India. Why Would I Be Married Here? reveals how predatory capitalism links with patriarchy to dispossess many poor women from India's marginalized Dalit and Muslim communities of marriage choices in their local communities. It reveals how, within the context of the increasing spread of capitalist relations, these women's pragmatic cross-region migration for marriage needs to be reframed as an exercise of their agency that simultaneously exposes them to new forms of gender subordination and internal othering of caste discrimination and ethnocentrism in conjugal communities. Why Would I Be Married Here? offers powerful examples of how contemporary forces of neoliberalism reshape the structural oppressions compelling poor women from marginalized communities worldwide into making compromised choices about their bodies, their labor, and their lives.

The Host in the Attic by Rohan Quine is a hologram of Oscar Wilde’s The Picture of Dorian Gray, digitised and reframed in cinematic style, set in London’s Docklands in a few years’ time. Brilliant software engineer Rik and executive Jaymi work at digital agencies in London (surely unaware that their fates are destined to echo those of Basil and Dorian, respectively the painter and the subject of Wilde's novel). Rik uses Jaymi’s appearance as the model or “skin” for a cutting-edge interactive hologram that navigates the Web in enhanced ways, tailored to every user. The dissolute bigwig “Champagne” Marc makes this into a business reality, and through his cynical eloquence electrifies Jaymi with the knowledge that Jaymi will hereby become the face of the Web. Throughout the film-shoot of Jaymi for the making of the skin, these honeyed words of Marc (like those of Wilde’s Lord Henry to Dorian during the portrait’s creation) light powerful fires of vanity and hubris behind Jaymi’s eyes. As this holographic Web-guide’s hold over global information grows to a near monopoly, Jaymi is lionised, finding no door closed. But he yearns for still more: to see what the hologram itself can see online. So by trickery he succeeds in getting hold of a unique copy of the prototype hologram, with all regular filters removed. In private files online he thereby discovers a not-yet-published novel that will come to be called The Imagination Thief, by Alaia Danielle, with whom he has an intense romance (echoing Wilde’s actress Sibyl Vane with Dorian). But when Jaymi brutally dumps her, triggering her suicide, he is shocked to observe, on the same evening, that the face on his private prototype hologram has become crueller. Fascinated, he realises its appearance is changing in accordance with his own behaviour - and he hides it in his attic. For years he uses his unique online access for ever more megalomaniacal ungekürzt. In his groundbreaking 1987 book Leadership Is an Art, Max De Pree says, “The first job of a leader is to define reality.” Well, this is another groundbreaking book that defines the reality of leadership itself. While so many leadership books either romanticize or theorize leadership, The Frustrated Leader tells the brutal truth of the matter: Leadership necessarily entails frustration. But the genius of this remarkable work is that it defines frustration as a positive force rather than a negative one. Then, having reframed frustration, Myron Edmonds shows us how to harness the energy of frustration for the achievement of a leadership prowess that can never be achieved without it.When you listen to Edmond’s unique leadership treatise, it will penetrate your mind at three levels.First, The Frustrated Leader is unexpectedly therapeutic in that it is a work of empathy with those who occupy leadership positions. Seriously, you be like, “Wow, this guy gets my situation. I guess I'm not alone.” No, you’re not alone. Your frustration is not unique. It is, according to Edmonds, nearly the definition of leadership. So you don't need to be feel guilty about your frustration. Rather, you need to reframe it and use it, which leads to the next way in which the book will impact you.   Secondly, The Frustrated Leader is extremely practical...so practical that it hurts, but in a good way. It doesn't merely hypothesize about leadership—it practicalizes (there’s a new word for you) leadership. Edmonds explains to us what it actually looks like to be a leader and prescribes specific actions and attitudes you can, and should, implement to master the art of effective leadership.Thirdly, The Frustrated Leader is powerfully motivating. While Edmonds tells us some hard truths and insists that there is a very real sense in which the leader is alone in the vision they see, which is precisely why they are the leader, he c ungekürzt. Cukier and his co-authors have a more ambitious project than Kahneman and Harari. They don t want to just point out how powerfully we are influenced by our perspectives and prejudices our frames. They want to show us that these frames are tools, and that we can optimise their use. ForbesFrom pandemics to populism, AI to ISIS, wealth inequity to climate change, humanity faces unprecedented challenges that threaten our very existence. The essential tool that will enable humanity to find the best way foward is defined in Framers by internationally renowned authors Kenneth Cukier, Viktor Mayer-Schönberger, and Francis de Véricourt. To frame is to make a mental model that enables us to make sense of new situations. Frames guide the decisions we make and the results we attain. People have long focused on traits like memory and reasoning, leaving framing all but ignored. But with computers becoming better at some of those cognitive tasks, framing stands out as a critical function and only humans can do it. This book is the first guide to mastering this human ability. Illustrating their case with compelling examples and the latest research, authors Cukier, Mayer-Schönberger, and de Véricourt examine:· Why advice to think outside the box is useless · How Spotify beat Apple by reframing music as an experience· How the #MeToo twitter hashtag reframed the perception of sexual assault · The disaster of framing Covid-19 as equivalent to seasonal flu, and how framing it akin to SARS delivered New Zealand from the pandemicFramers shows how framing is not just a way to improve how we make decisions in the era of algorithms but why it will be a matter of survival for humanity in a time of societal upheaval and machine prosperity.

How denial sustains the liberal imagination of a progressive and democratic Israel. The question that this book aims to answer might seem simple: how can a violent project of dispossession and discrimination be imagined, felt, and profoundly believed in as though it were the exact opposite--an embodiment of sustainability, multicultural tolerance, and democratic idealism? Despite well-documented evidence of racism and human rights abuse, Israel has long been embraced by the most liberal sectors of European and American society as a manifestation of the progressive values of tolerance, plurality, inclusivity, and democracy, and hence a project that can be passionately defended for its lofty ideals. Tolerance Is a Wasteland argues that the key to this miraculous act of political alchemy is a very specific form of denial. Here the Palestinian presence in, and claim to, Palestine is not simply refused or covered up, but negated in such a way that the act of denial is itself denied. The effects of destruction and repression are reframed, inverted into affirmations of liberal virtues that can be passionately championed. In Tolerance Is a Wasteland, Saree Makdisi explores many such acts of affirmation and denial in a range of venues: from the haunted landscape of thickly planted forests covering the ruins of Palestinian villages forcibly depopulated in 1948; to the theater of "pinkwashing" as Israel presents itself to the world as a gay-friendly haven of cultural inclusion; to the so-called Museum of Tolerance being built on top of the ruins of a Muslim cemetery in Jerusalem, which was methodically desecrated in order to clear the space for this monument to "human dignity." Tolerance Is a Wasteland reveals the system of emotional investments and curated perceptions that makes this massive project of cognitive dissonance possible.
