Biblical Old Earth Creationism Under Attack: Opposed Evolutionists and Young Earth Creationists , Hörbuch, Digital, ungekürzt, 55min
As the title of this audiobook denotes, Old Earth Creationism, which is the view held by creationists who believe that the earth may be extremely old, is being attacked not only by atheists and evolutionists, but also by those of the Young Earth Creationism view. Within the chapters of this book, I discuss reasons for seeing biblical substantiation and confirmation for an ancient earth, that has possibly existed for many eons of ages and that predates the creation of Adam and his domain (the current dispensation), by possibly millions or even billions of years. The creationist view that provides the most substantiation for this fact, is the one called "The Genesis Gap" (also referred to as "The Ruin-Reconstruction Theory" and "The Gap Theory"). We of the Genesis Gap view of Old Earth Creationism, believe that a past dispensation (or dispensations - plural) on the earth, likely included periods such as the dinosaur age. We do not claim to have absolutes or details regarding this age on earth, before Adam but we are firmly convinced that such a period is clearly revealed in God's Word. With this being the case, we are inspired to defend the Genesis Gap position. It is my sincere hope to contribute toward achieving that goal, within the chapters of this audiobook. ungekürzt. IQ84 , Hörbuch, Digital, ungekürzt, 615min
An unknown terrorist has released a biological weapon onto the American public. Anyone with an IQ over 84 is in danger - people's heads are exploding - the country is on lockdown. Everything is about to change forever. Luckily, some people are still alive. Like the president of the United States. And Congress. And millions of idiots determined to figure out why their heads aren't blowing up. Which brings us to David Dingle. He's the not-too-bright guy whom this whole story revolves around. A lot of people revolve around David Dingle. Some of them include a Las Vegas cocktail waitress, an ineffective jihadist, a Grand Dragon of the KKK, a creationist and his very extended family, a pill-popping doctor, a drop-dead sexy clepto-nympho-suicidal-maniac, and a rogue Illuminati mastermind to name just a few. Now David Dingle doesn't know much about these people, but frankly, he doesn't know much about much. He's just a simple American with a government job and a fantastic phone who one day finds himself at the epicenter of the biggest biological terrorist attack perpetrated on American soil. And now everyone's after him. Not cool. All the while, the president of the United States has to keep voters' heads from blowing up before re-elections - things couldn't get worse. A timely satire that dives into the darkest corners of American Culture, IQ84 examines some of the most controversial issues in America today. It's a book about freedom. ungekürzt. Language: English. To the Best of Our Knowledge: Science and the Search for Meaning - Part Four: Can Islam and Science Coexist?, Hörbuch, Digital, 52min
In this hour, Steve Paulson presents a round-up of scholars who track scientific developments in the Muslim world. First he speaks with Taner Edis, a physicist at Truman State University whose books include An Illusion of Harmony: Science and Religion in Islam. Edis says the state of science is dismal in the Muslim world today. Next, Ziauddin Sardar, a London based scholar and cultural critic, agrees, to a point. He tells Steve what's needed now is "an Islamic science" and explains what that is. Sardar's memoir is Desperately seeking Paradise: Journeys of a Skeptical Muslim. Then, Nidhal Guessoum, an Algerian born astrophysicist who teaches at American University in the United Arab Emirates, agrees that contemporary science in the Arab word is abysmal, but he looks back with great pride at the Golden Age of Islam and talks with Steve about what happened. After that, Anousheh Ansari became the first Muslim woman to venture into space when she traveled aboard the International Space Station. She talks about her trip with Jim Fleming and writes about it in her book My Dream of Stars: From Daughter of Iran to Space Pioneer.Following that, Steve Paulson travels to Turkey to report on Harun Yahya, Islam's leading creationist, who runs a sophisticated media empire and has considerable influence. He also has critics. And finally, after all the debates about the Musli world, it's refreshing to look back at one of the world's great mystics - the Sufi poet Rumi. Rumi lived in the thirteenth century in what is now Turkey and left a remarkable cache of poetry and spiritual wisdom. He's one of America's best-selling poets, thanks to the efforts of his long-time translator, Coleman Barks. Anne Strainchamps talks with Coleman Barks about Rumi's insights. Among the Creationists: Dispatches from the Anti-Evolutionist Front Line , Hörbuch, Digital, ungekürzt, 643min
Why do so many Americans reject the modern theory of evolution? Why does creationism, thoroughly refuted by scientists, retain such popularity among the public? Is the perceived conflict between evolution and Christianity genuine, or is it merely an illusion peculiar to Protestant fundamentalism? Seeking answers to these questions, mathematician Jason Rosenhouse became a regular attendee at creationist conferences and other gatherings. After ten years of attending events like the giant Creation Mega-Conference in Lynchburg, Virginia, and visiting sites like the Creation Museum in Petersburg, Kentucky, and after hundreds of surprisingly friendly conversations with creationists of varying stripes, he has emerged with a story to tell, a story that goes well beyond the usual stereotypes of Bible-thumping fanatics railing against coldly rational scientists. Through anecdotes, personal reflections, and scientific and philosophical discussion, Rosenhouse presents a more down-to-earth picture of modern creationism and the people who espouse it. He is neither polemical nor insulting, but he does not pull punches when he spots an error in the logical or scientific reasoning of creationists, especially when they wander into his own field, mathematics. Along the way, he also tells the story of his own nonbeliever's attempt to understand a major aspect of American religion. Forced to wrestle with his views about God and evolution, Rosenhouse found himself drawn into a new world of ideas previously unknown to him, arriving at a sharper understanding of the reality of science-versus-religion disputes, and how these debates look to those beyond the ivory tower. A personal memoir of one scientist's attempt to come to grips with this controversy - by immersing himself in the culture of the anti-evolutionists - Among the Creationists is a fair, fresh, and insightful account of the modern American debate over Darwinism. ungekürzt.
