Seasick Steve's Klassiker endlich wieder als CD und LP erhältlich! "You Can't Teach An Old Dog New Tricks" verdankt sich weniger einer Neuausrichtung als neuer Umstände, denn nach Auslauf seines Major-Vertrags hat Seasick ein eigenes Label gegründet und somit alle Freiheiten dieser Welt. Das Grundgerüst des Albums nahm er in seinem Wohnzimmer auf. Wie gewohnt begleitete ihn Dan Magnusson am Schlagzeug, ansonsten kommt er mit eigenen Mitteln aus. Mit zwei Ausnahmen: Einem Chor im abschließenden Gassenhauer "It's A Long Long Way" und einem Stargast in zwei weiteren Stücken. Der ist John Paul Jones. Seasick kontaktierte ihn über Jones' Gitarrenbauer, den er zufällig kennen gelernt hatte. Der legendäre Bassist von Led Zeppelin, später auch von Them Crooked Vultures, ließ sich nicht lange bitten und bringt im Titeltrack sowie "Back In The Doghouse" die tiefen Saiten zum Vibrieren.
