  MUSIKANSICH: "Bell Monks ist ein 2005 gebildetes Duo aus Eric Sheffield und Jeff Herriott. Eric Sheffield ist Musiker, Elektroniker und Visual-Artist. Jeff Herriott ist ein Komponist, der sehr häufig elektronische Kompositionen mit live dazu eingespielten Instrumenten verbindet. Als Duo haben sie mit anderen Künstlern zusammen seit 2005 einige Alben und EPs aufgenommen. Der für das neue Album hinzugekommene Gregory Taylor ist ein Visual-Artist und Klangkünstler. Ih neues Album Brocades and Palimpsets entstand aus kleinen Kompositionen, welche Bell Monks 2012 für eine Galerieeröffnung eingespielt hatten. Später haben sie diese Schnipsel dann weiter ausgearbeitet und zusätzlich Gregory Taylor sowie Ben Willies und Matt Sintchak dazugeholt. So entstanden weit über 100 Minuten Musik, die dann anschließend von Lars Graugaard zu dem nun vorliegenden Album mit etwas mehr als 40 Minuten Musik editiert wurde. Die darauf enthaltene Musik ist eine sehr ambiente, die über den elektronischen Soundscapes von Saxophon, Kontrabass, Gitarren und weiteren Programmings kreiert wurde. Sanfte Klänge vom Kontrabass, perlende Pianoklänge, Streichsounds und überall viel Hall und kreisende Sounds. Die Musik bietet eine große Tiefe, in die sich der Hörer zum Entdecken der vielen, spannenden Klänge fallen lassen kann. Oder einfach nur hineintaucht und abschaltet. So bietet Brocades and Palimpsests fein ausgearbeitete Klänge zum Träumen und Entspannen, ohne ins Seichte abzurutschen."
