Mitral Valve Prolapse is a heart murmur found commonly in the general public and can cause heart palpitations, orthostatic hypotension (dizziness upon standing), other symptoms of an imbalanced nervous system and anxiety/panic symptoms. Medical Research studies have found it to be even more common in thyroid disease patients, especially those with autoimmune types of thyroid disorders. It is also believed to be about five times more common in females than in males. Many people with MVP do not experience symptoms while those who do are termed as having "MVP-Syndrome". The condition can also cause an imbalance in the "involuntary nervous system" (dysautonomia) and has been associated with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome in some patients who have it. This audiobook can help to provide the reader with a general education regarding the symptoms, diagnosis and treatment of this very common "click heart murmur". This audiobook is not intended to be an extensive medical manual but contains information most often sought by laypersons on the subject. ungekürzt. Language: English. Narrator: Mark La Roi. Postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome (POTS) is currently defined as a "syndrome", a collection of symptoms for which the root cause has not yet been identified. This book aims to rectify this by arguing the case for POTS being considered a form of neurological injury to the limbic system following an antecedent trauma, such as a viral illness, pregnancy, surgery, or psychological trauma (or a combination). Patrick Ussher himself had POTS but recovered by following a limbic system rehabilitation program (originally developed to treat multiple chemical sensitivity) called the dynamic neural retraining system (DNRS). After recovery, he set about mapping the idea of a limbic system impairment onto preexisting research into POTS and found that it could explain many key findings including: NET protein deficiency (which is responsible for blood vessel constriction problems and resulting elevated heart rate upon standing), low aldosterone and poor sodium retention (which are responsible for low blood volume problems), and mast cell activation problems. This book will simultaneously act as a guide for those interested in using the DNRS as a treatment for POTS and also as a call for further research into the potential efficacy of the DNRS for treating POTS.  ungekürzt. Chronic Fatigue Syndrome is a condition involving deep fatigue, unrefreshing sleep, and a worsening of symptoms after exertion. Its exact cause is unknown, but it is believed that a combination of genetic predisposition and environmental factors bring it about. With no simple test to identify it available, diagnosis is based on the symptoms and exclusion of other causes. Treatment is aimed at modifying your lifestyle and relieving symptoms with medications and therapies. The condition is also known as myalgic encephalomyelitis/chronic fatigue syndrome (ME/CFS) or systemic exertion intolerance disease (SEID).Every person with chronic fatigue syndrome has his or her own unique set of symptoms, the intensity of which can vary. The symptoms that are required for the diagnosis of ME/CFS are fatigue, post-exertional malaise, and sleep problems. In addition, either cognitive impairment (brain fog) or a worsening of symptoms while you are upright (orthostatic intolerance) must be noted. The fatigue and drop in activity level must be present for at least six months. The characteristics of the fatigue must include that it is not relieved by sleep or rest, it isn't the result of strenuous exertion, and it significantly lowers your ability to function normally in most situations. Your symptoms may worsen for 24 hours to days or even weeks after physical or mental exertion.Other common symptoms include:Sudden and distinct onset, especially following a flu-like illnessPain, including muscle aches, joint aches, or headachesFlu-like symptoms that may include a sore throat, swollen lymph glands, or low-grade feverSensitivities and intolerances to heat, cold, noise, light, or alcoholThere can be many additional symptoms including anxiety or a sensation of irregular heartbeat. Common overlapping conditions include depression, irritable bowel syndrome, tinnitus, premenstrual syndrome, and endometriosis.CB ungekürzt. Language: English. Narrator: John Griffith.
